Welcome to the Josiah Brunson Chapter NSDAR

We are based in Trussville, Alabama, and currently have 78 members from the surrounding area, including Jefferson, St. Clair, and Blount counties. Our chapter meets at 10:30 a. m. on the first Saturday of each month September through May. Guests are welcome.

Chapter projects, events, and programs are designed to promote education, patriotism, and historic preservation. Members are encouraged to identify opportunities for service in their own communities, as well as participate in local and state events. Recent chapter activities include:

  • Providing homemade baked goods for veterans at Three Hots & A Cot
  • Arranging for "Quilts of Valor" to be presented to veterans
  • Donating books to several local libraries
  • Adopting a classroom at the Kate Duncan Smith DAR School
  • Cleaning Revolutionary War Soldiers' tombstones

In addition to these chapter projects, many of our members participated in local and state events including:

  • Welcoming new citizens at a naturalization ceremony
  • Working on local historical buildings
  • Donation of food to local animal shelter

Meetings this year include programs on:

  • Quilt of Valor
  • Sentential at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
  • Alabama State Regent
